670GHz ANTENNAS

THz technology is rapidly progressing. Design is challenging due to very large electrical sizes of the antenna. Following 670 GHz antennas have been developed within the framework of the THz project led by one of the major automotive players. Two antennas presented here as examples of quazioptic design approach used in combination with mode matching technique.

Rectangular Horn and Lens

Specification:

Passband: 660-680GHz. Beamwidth:  1.6 deg (H-plane)    10 deg (E-plane)

Design incorporates multimode horn loaded with Fresnel-type Plano-convex lens 26mmx26mm in cross section.

Square Horn and Lens 

Specification:

Passband: 660-680GHz. Beamwidth:  1.6 deg (H-plane)    1.6 deg (E-plane)

Outline dimensions: 52mm (L) x 26mm (W) x 26mm (H).
